6 steps to whiter teeth on the run up to the festive season

07/11/2014

Christmas is fast approaching and everyone wants to look their best for those festive parties and activities.

Many people treat themselves to teeth whitening to help achieve that Hollywood smile for the festive season.

Here’s how you can achieve whiter teeth:

Drink lots of water to wash away the stains

Water is not only essential for overall wellbeing, it is also an essential for good oral health as it acts as a natural cleaner and has the power to wash away bacteria and food left on the teeth after eating. Make sure you have a jug of water at the table during meal times, this is a much healthier option than fizzy drinks and sugary fruit juices, and will leave your teeth looking better and your breath smelling much fresher.

Eat your way to whiter teeth

Why not crunch your way to whiter teeth by biting into an apple? Apples are considered to be a great way of cleaning teeth either on the go or when you are at work and can’t brush your teeth. They also provide the perfect opportunity to get one of the five a day into your diet. If apples don’t take your fancy, there are other options, which include raw carrots, celery and unsweetened popcorn.

Treat yourself to a tooth whitening session

Tooth whitening at Platinum Dental Care is an effective way of turning back the clock to make you look younger and achieve a brighter smile. Using the Enlighten professional whitening system, the team offer a choice of in-surgery and home whitening options. The results are not only natural-looking but also help you look even more stunning, and can help you combat the gradually yellowing that can happen to our teeth as we grow older, or as a result of smoking or diet.

Brush your way to a whiter smile

Your toothbrush can also influence the whiteness in your teeth. Make sure you change your toothbrush or the head of your electric toothbrush at least every two to three months; otherwise you’re just transferring bacteria from your toothbrush to your mouth.

Remember to floss

Flossing is great, as not only does it remove any food particles stuck in between those teeth, it also removes some of the staining in between teeth, making your smile look whiter and healthier. Make sure that you set aside some time to floss several times a week, as this will not only improve the health of your gums, you will also notice your smile start to sparkle in time for that festive party season.

Visit your hygienist

Regular hygienist appointments at least twice a year will help to preserve a bright smile, whilst maintaining healthy teeth and gums.
