How does Invisalign^® work?

Invisalign^® is unique in that it uses 3D imaging technology to create a treatment plan based on the current appearance of your teeth and your desired outcome. This 3D plan is a mini video where you can see the final position of your teeth prior to even starting the treatment! It also gives you and your treating dentist the opportunity to discuss everything about your plan so you can know what to expect.

Invisalign^® aligners gradually adjust the position of the teeth, easing them into the desired alignment by using a custom series of aligners. The aligners are made of high tech, durable, clear material and are changed every week. Each patient’s alignment process is unique and continually monitored by the dentist.

How long will the treatment take?

The length of time the treatment takes is highly case-dependent, determined by the extent of the correction required and the specific Invisalign^® package you fall under which ranges from 7 weeks to 18 months.

How do I take care of my aligners?

The best way to care for your aligners is to take them out and clean them regularly as per the instructions that are given by your dentist. This is usually twice a day with cold water and soap and in addition, once or twice a week with retainer cleaning tablets for 20 minutes each time.   

It is also important to avoid eating or drinking with your aligners in, as this can damage them or stain them.
