The Inman Aligner brace. For straight teeth, Fast!

Inman Aligner – For straight teeth, fast!

What do we all want? We want our teeth to look straight and we want it to happen as quickly as possible.

Let me tell you about the Inman Aligner, one of our popular straightening systems at Platinum Dental Care

What is an Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner is a removable brace, made from a mixture of clear plastic and metal springs. It works to straighten the front four teeth very quickly and effectively.

How does it work?

It has a clear band that comes across the front of the teeth to push these back if required and a plastic plate behind the teeth to push any teeth forward if needed. The teeth are gently positioned into their new position. Check out these actions on the picture below.

How long does it take?

This is the quickest system we use and can be as quick as 6-18 weeks to straighten your teeth!

Our dentists can advise you at your consultation appointment roughly how long this system would take on your teeth.

It does rely on you wearing the brace for 22 hours each day only taking it out to brush your teeth, eat or play contact sports/swimming. The more you wear it, the more quickly your teeth can move.

So what’s the process?

After your initial free consultation with our dentists, if you are happy to proceed we will:

  • Book you an examination appointment where we will do a full examination of your teeth, gums, soft and hard tissues. We will take all the x-rays and photographs required.
  • Once we are happy enough that your teeth and gums are strong and healthy enough for treatment then we will take moulds of your teeth and send them to our laboratory to make your custom made Inman Aligner.
  • 2 weeks later the aligner is checked and fitted onto your teeth, you will be shown how to put it in and take it out. This can feel very fiddly at first but soon you’ll be able to do it with your eyes closed! We’ll show you how to clean your aligner and also how to keep your teeth and gums clean throughout the treatment.
  • You wear the aligner for 20+ hours a day and return every 2 weeks for reviews where we make adjustments to your teeth to allow them to move.
  • Once you and your dentist are happy with your teeth, the appliance is removed and a retainer is fitted.

Case Study 6 Before

What is a retainer?

A retainer is either a removable clear mouthguard ( see the picture below) to wear at night or a very thin metal wire that is glued to the backs of the teeth that have been straightened.

It is essential that you wear your retainer for life otherwise your teeth can (and most probably will!) move  back to where they started.
